Veterans Wall of Honour
The Wall of Honour was created to recognize the service of veterans from Canada’s Armed Forces, Merchant Navy, RCMP, and those who served with British and Commonwealth Forces and its Allies. The project began in October 2013 and serves a dual purpose: to honour the service of veterans and as a fund-raising project to further the work of the museum.
The wall, displays 414 black granite plaques, showing each Veteran’s name, branch of service, and dates of service and was dedicated at a ceremony held on June 16th, 2016 by Her Honour the Lt. Governor of British Columbia Judith Guichon, OBC.
It is important to note that the plaques show no rank, honours, nor awards. This wall honours a veteran’s service; it is not a memorial, however it is the largest tribute dedicated solely to military service in British Columbia.
